New Album Release: “Dream Dance”

I had my first piano lesson in January, 1960. I studied classical piano with a number of teachers, including Mildred Victor, a pupil of Artur Schnabel. I later took piano lessons in the Prep Department at the Eastman School of Music, in Rochester, New York, and I continued my piano studies until a year or so after graduating from college.
When I first heard the Beatles and the Stones, I decided I needed to play electric guitar. In early 1966, I got a Silvertone electric guitar and a Silvertone amp. I bought a chord book and taught myself how to play by listening to my favorite records endlessly. Drove my parents crazy!
I played in bands all through high school and college. In 1969, I played guitar with Son House, the famous blues guitarist. He was living in Rochester, NY, at the time. Son House wanted me and my band mates to accompany him to Chicago to play the blues. My parents put a stop to that plan immediately! I think that was a wise move. At that point in my life, I think I’d have gone wild if I had been immersed in the world of blues in Chicago!
From 1970 to 1974, I was a member of an originals band in New England. We wrote and recorded some good songs, but we never got the big break we hoped for, so we went our separate ways. I decided to become an attorney, and I practiced law for a long time.
I never stopped making music. I played in numerous bands over the years, and I continued to play classical music on the piano. In 2013, I decided to focus on music again on a full time basis, and my first album, Summer’s Gone (2016), was the result. Subsequently, I have released a total of six additional albums and numerous singles. I hope that you will check out my other albums: Metamorphosis (2017), Breezy Day (2018), Mr. Kool (2020), Welcome to Jimland (2022), and Still Here (2023).
My latest album, my seventh overall, is called Dream Dance (2025). It’s all-instrumental, very jazzy, but with a few other influences here and there. Listeners will hear that I have been influenced by many artists, including Bob James, Pat Metheny, and Dave Grusin. However, my music is my own blend of melodies and rhythms. I believe that, at its best, music should “take you somewhere.” I hope that I have succeeded in doing that, and I hope that you will enjoy my music!
